The Project
Optical and physical embossing create new visual and tactile dimensions of drawing.

Commissioned by Curators Juan Azulay and Flavia Lowenstein for DLFA Gallery in Miami Beach, Grises includes a series of three drawings and two engravings. Experimenting with the possibilities of optical embossing, the drawings are a series of three different instantiations exploring two-dimensional depth in various shades of grey. Using aluminum and dyed walnut, the engravings explore the tactile and visual consequences derived from material embossing, including the relation between line, contour, outline, texture, and shape under light and shadow.
