Matthew Echard
Matthew leads with a human-centric design ethos, emphasizing both performative and holistic processes within a durable, sustainable framework.
Matthew has dedicated his education, career, and lived experience to solving the omnipresent problem facing all of us: our future home. In collaboration with PATTERNS, he brings together a team of technical SME’s in his contributions to the the studio’s most ambitious projects. With a focus on human factors and sustainability, Matthew builds unique teams focused on a collaborative, interdisciplinary work process. Matthew believes a building’s form and function are derived from many contexts, and that design should transcend from many spaces: from architecture, energy planning and water management, to security, lifecycle cost, and even future re-use. A built space should truly be greater than the sum of its parts.
